Overview

TuneYourSound.com proudly announces that it has been chosen as retailer of Smitty Custom Guitars. We firmly believe that the work of this guitar builder is one of the finest to be found. All instruments are hand-build to your specifications and will be unique.

Eric Smid is the mastermind behind Smitty Custom Guitars. He is one of the few dutch luthiers keeping alive the tradition of guitar building made famous by Egmond in the '50 and '60. In the 60's Egmond was the largest luthier in Europe and they were more known for quantity than quality. Cheap instruments was made in large numbers and, practically, everyone could afford to buy a guitar. Eric keeps up with the tradition of offering affordable hand made guitars, but quality and customisation are his ultimate goals.

Therefore Eric proposes a range of custom instruments based on classic guitar shapes and a series of newly designed models as well. What makes Eric's guitars stand out are his own pick-ups. To sum it up, Eric's guitars feature the following: Hand wound pickups are standard, as is advanced playability, light weight and paper-thin nitro finishes.

All Smitty guitars are constructed using a mix of modern and traditional hand building techniques and every guitar is made, assembled and finished to the very highest standard by one man who will not accept any thing but the very best.

Currently Eric is promoting his original design guitars, available from www.tuneyoursound.com very soon.

The Builder
The mysterious Eric Smid

Eric Smid the mastermind behind Smitty Custom Guitars avoids publicity and it is hard to get him in front of a camera. He has a background in IT and is currently teaching IT courses at ROC van Amsterdam. But his real passion is guitars. He has started with repair work and evolved slowly in building his own guitars. He is now ready to do his own designs and has so far sketched out 4 different own models. They will be soon presented here.
