About the Builder:B.C. Rich is a manufacturer of guitars and bass guitars founded by the late Bernardo Chavez Rico in 1969. Rico's first original guitar design was in 1972, with the Seagull. In 1976 he designed the Mockingbird and Eagle, and then the Bich in 1978.The September 2010 issue of Guitar World ranked the Mockingbird as "the coolest guitar of all time", ahead of guitars such as the Gibson Les Paul and Fender Stratocaster.
About the Guitar:
This guitar was specially handbuild for Rick Derringer and has Derringer inlayed at the 12th fret. Rick endorsed B.C. Rich guitars for some time and used them extensively during his career.
He used this guitar for sometime on stage but the purple sparkle color was not good for stage performance and it ended up as second guitar. It can be seen in the DVD Live At Cheney Hall, 2006 as a backup guitar behind Rick playing and in the interview backstage where he uses it to warm up before the concert.
